KZN South Coast Strengthens Investment Pipeline with Bankable Tourism Projects

PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release 11 May 2026 KZN South Coast Strengthens Investment Pipeline with Bankable Tourism Projects The KZN South Coast is advancing a robust pipeline of investment ready tourism and catalytic economic projects, positioning the region as a credible and structured destination for private sector participation. Through the strategic work of the South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), a growing portfolio of high-impact projects is being actively packaged to attract investment. Among these is the Marine Tilapia Incubator Hub an innovative aquaculture initiative designed to support emerging fish farmers through shared infrastructure, skills development, and market access. The hub is expected to boost local food security, stimulate agro-processing opportunities and create sustainable livelihoods, particularly within coastal and rural communities. In addition, significant focus is being placed on the development of Small Craft Harbours along the KZN South Coast. These catalytic coastal development nodes are envisioned as multi-use precincts that will unlock opportunities in marine tourism, commercial fishing, recreation and associated SMME development. The Small Craft Harbour programme is set to enhance the region’s maritime economy while also improving infrastructure that supports both local communities and visitor experiences. A key component of SCTIE’s approach is project preparation and investor facilitation. By undertaking feasibility studies, concept development and ensuring alignment with municipal and provincial planning frameworks, SCTIE is actively de-risking projects and improving their bankability. This coordinated approach reduces institutional fragmentation and creates a streamlined pathway for investors seeking clear and credible entry points into the region. This structured investment pipeline reinforces the KZN South Coast’s position not only as a premier tourism destination, but also as a competitive and investment-ready region with significant growth potential. CEO, Dr Sibiya said: “Our focus is on building a pipeline of projects that are both transformative and investment ready. The Marine Tilapia Incubator Hub speaks to our commitment to innovation and inclusive economic development, while the Small Craft Harbour developments highlight the untapped potential of our coastal economy. By ensuring these projects are properly packaged, de-risked and aligned with broader planning frameworks, we are creating a compelling and credible investment case for the KZN South Coast.” Unlock More Growth on the KZN South Coast!
